Who we are
Based in London and New York, we are the creative technology company powering over 90% of the world’s interactive video content, enabling brands such as Disney, Ted Baker, and Dulux to explore new horizons in audience engagement and interaction, making their video content much harder working. Our Studio platform uses AI to create hotspots, content overlays, video branching and other features, making every face and object in video content touchable and clickable - and our clients are mostly in marketing, advertising and TV.

The WIREWAX Studio is a SaaS (software as a service) platform, but we also have an award-winning in-house Creative Solutions team who collaborate directly with production companies, ad agencies and brand clients on bespoke interactive projects. Why join WIREWAX?

  • You'll have the trust and freedom to devise solutions to problems as you see fit, utilising whichever technology you consider most appropriate.

Senior Frontend Engineer (Remote)

Hi! 👋 We’re searching for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our engineering team at vidIQ.

We’re a diverse team from around the world on a mission to empower video creators to share their stories with everyone. Help us shape new products and deliver simple, valuable features to our awesome customers.

We’re a remote company and our team works from wherever they want. That means you must be self-motivated to succeed. If that sounds great to you and you’re interested in empowering video creators, keep reading!

About you

You’ll be a good fit for this role if the following are true:

  •  You love building things. Frontend development is full of helpful tools, libraries, and patterns, and you enjoy using these to build products people will love. You like new challenges and strive to ship new features to customers on a regular basis.
  •  You love to learn. You enjoy keeping up with the latest trends in frontend space. If a project uses a framework that’s new to you, you dive into the docs and tutorials to figure it out.
  •  You act like an owner. When bugs appear, you document and fix them. When projects are too complex, you work with others to refine the scope until it’s something you believe can be built in a reasonable amount of time and maintained in the long run.
  •  You care about code quality. You believe simple is better and strive to write code that is easy to read and maintain. You consider edge cases and write tests to handle them. When you come across legacy code that is difficult to understand, you add comments or refactor it to make it easier for the next person.
  •  You understand balance. Great products must balance performance, customer value, code quality, dependencies, and so on. You know how to consider all of these concerns while keeping your focus on shipping things.
  •  You over-communicate by default. If a project is off-track, you bring it up proactively and suggest ways to simplify and get things going. You proactively share status updates without being asked and strive to keep things as honest and transparent as possible.

Note that we’re looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years of professional programming experience for this role.

Possible projects

As part of our growing Frontend Team, you’ll work with team members at all levels to improve our existing products and develop new ones.

The tools we use most heavily right now are React and Redux, though we still have Backbone and Flux in some of our codebases as well. We use Asana for project management, GitHub for code reviews, and Slack for daily communication. We also have a Rails API and consider it a major bonus if you have experience working on Rails applications.

Some projects you may work on include:

  • Research and implement architectural changes such as migrating our browser extension to Redux.
  • Help measure the effectiveness of certain features by building a reusable analytics module to use across our products.
  • Improve our brand and usability by reskinning components according to our new design system.
  • Make our products more reliable by writing integration tests to cover common user workflows.
  • Simplify our API interactions by building a GraphQL layer.
  • Level up the team by reviewing code and suggesting improvements.

Over time, you’ll become an owner of some areas of our codebase and have the freedom to improve them as you see fit.

About vidIQ

We believe everyone has something to share with the world and we’ve been empowering video creators to tell their stories for more than 6 years. We want to be the best platform for video creators. Everything we do is to build trust with our customers and help them improve at their craft.

vidIQ is a small, remote team in many different time zones. We currently have team members stretching from California all the way to Kiev!

A few of the perks of working here include:

  • A generous vacation policy. Take time away when you need it.
  • A flexible work schedule. You decide which hours to work and we expect an average commitment of 40 hours per week.
  • Support for professional development. If there’s a relevant course or conference you’re interested in, we’ll pay for it.
  • Annual retreats! You can expect to travel once per year for a company gathering. (We visited Portugal together last year!)

How to apply

To save time and get to know you better, we ask a few questions as part of the application. Following that, our hiring process involves a phone conversation, a technical interview (no live coding, don’t worry!), and a short paid project.

When you apply, you’ll hear back from us even if we don’t think there’s a good fit. We know you’re putting effort into your application and feel that deserves respect.

Please note that the preferred time zone for this role is between UTC-5 and UTC+2, but we're willing to be flexible for the right person.

vidIQ does not work with recruiting agencies and strives to work with each candidate one-on-one through the hiring process. We will respect your time availability if you are currently employed.

vidIQ provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants, regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, or sexual orientation.

Full Stack Software Engineer

Hi, we're Oscar. We’re hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Engineering team in our New York City office.

Oscar is a technology-driven, consumer-focused health insurance startup founded in 2012 and headquartered in New York City. Our goal is to make health insurance simple, transparent, and human. We need your help to do so.

About this role:

Our members are engaging with Oscar more than with any other insurer, and we have expanded our personalized Concierge teams’ ability to support our members’ needs. We’ve doubled down on virtual care delivery to improve access for our members to get the care they need, when and where they need it. We’re leveraging technology to provide smarter ways to guide our members through the healthcare system.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you’ll work across our entire stack, building intuitive user experiences for our members, the clinicians who guide and provide their care, and the operational teams at Oscar that make it all possible.

We're working on

  • Doctor on Call – Whenever possible, we want members to start their care with us. Central to this experience is Doctor on Call: unlimited, 24/7 access to a doctor that’s completely free for most members and accessible directly in the website or mobile app. We’re able to resolve around two-thirds of all requests, often averting a more expensive trip to the emergency room or urgent care.

  • Appointment Scheduling – Finding a doctor and scheduling an appointment shouldn’t require calling up every doctor in the directory. We’ve partnered with select doctors to reserve appointment slots for Oscar members, and it’s just a few clicks for our members to find the right doctor, view their availabilities, and immediately book an appointment.

  • Cost Estimates – One of the biggest issues for members is price transparency. It’s incredibly difficult to find out how much something in healthcare will cost beforehand. Getting the exact same procedure done in a different location can result in a 10x difference in costs. We’re building a cost estimates tool for members so they can get accurate price estimates for the service they’re planning on receiving. This will help our members make informed decisions and avoid surprise medical bills.

  • Knowledge Management – Our Concierge Care Guides field thousands of questions every day from our members, ranging from payments to benefits to help with finding a doctor. They essentially have to become subject matter experts on everything. We’re creating a platform that automatically surfaces relevant answers based on the member’s inquiries, ensuring the content is specific to the member and their plan and demographics.

  • Component Library – Part of what makes Oscar stand out is having visually appealing and easy to understand user experiences. We’ve designed and built an extensive React component library that’s consistently branded and web accessible. Every web application at Oscar, whether external or internal, uses the component library. Read more about it here.

We're looking for

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • A passion for fixing healthcare. The current healthcare experience is broken: it’s expensive, confusing, and doesn’t focus enough on patient outcomes. Our goal is to refactor healthcare piece by piece.

  • An eagerness to collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, designers, and operational stakeholders across Oscar. We believe the best ideas emerge when people share different perspectives and work together.

  • A knack for understanding business problems and user requirements and translating them into robust solutions.

  • The ability to architect creative, extensible, and maintainable applications across our web and mobile clients. We continuously seek the right balance between moving quickly and improving the operability, performance, and scalability of the systems we build.

  • An interest in using the best tool for the job. Our current favorites are React (Native), Python, Go, Kafka, Postgres, and gRPC.

Anything else is a bonus. We believe diversity is a key ingredient in building something great. All backgrounds welcome.

At Oscar, being an Equal Opportunity Employer means more than upholding discrimination-free hiring practices. It means that we work to cultivate_ an environment where _exceptional people can be their most authentic selves and find both belonging and support. We're on a mission to change healthcare -- an experience made whole by your unique background and perspectives.

Oscar applicants are considered solely based on their qualifications, without regard to applicant’s disability or need for accommodation. Any Oscar applicant who requires reasonable accommodations during the application process should contact the Oscar Benefits Team (accommodations@hioscar.com) to make the need for an accommodation known.

Pay Transparency Policy: Oscar's Pay Transparency Policy ensures that you won't be discharged or discriminated against based on whether you've inquired about, discussed, or disclosed your pay. Read the full policy here.

Our end-to-end business management solution is tailored for pet care and includes CRM, automated schedule optimization, staff management, seamless billing and payments, marketing tools, integrated analytics and comprehensive reporting – basically everything a business needs all in one place. Our initial focus is on dog walking & sitting companies, but we expect to span the entire pet care domain, including grooming, training, boarding, and even veterinary services down the road.

We launched our beta last summer and now have 550+ pet care professionals relying on our software to complete their daily appointments and 15K+ pet parents managing their pet’s care on our platform. We believe we are at an inflection point in our growth, having just closed our seed round of funding with which we expect to 5X our scale in the next 12-18 months.
