As a web developer for LearnCube, you will be working with a close, highly-talented team on our online classroom and online school products.

You will have so much more opportunity to learn, contribute and grow professionally with a startup like LearnCube, than you would from working for a big but soulless technology company.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to online classroom features and new products. For example, in the last year, we released new homework, large group classroom and breakout room features for our online classroom.
Improve the experience for our school administrators, teachers and students through learning analytics and data logging.
  • Scaling infrastructure is not the focus of your work but we offer a unique opportunity to gain experience if you’re curious. COVID-19 has increased the number of classes we deliver by more than 10-fold with more high-potential opportunities on the horizon.
  • Collaborate with other areas of LearnCube - customer support, customer success and sales - to improve the business, user experience and customer experience.
  • Provide some technical customer support for customer queries, especially for our VIP customers using our API products.
  • Keep up-to-date with best practices and technology.
  • Support research and development of our most innovative ideas within our “Learncube Labs” including smart ways to improve education through A.I.

More about the role:

  • Initial 3-month fixed term contract (remote position) followed by full-time contract if it goes well.
  • Market-related, competitive salary with a generous vacation policy.
  • Salary with company bonus.
  • This a remote position. There is no office!
  • Think of this also as a 'spring-board' position with lots more opportunity to grow your career into a leadership role if that is your desired path.

Criteria for a successful candidate:

  • Honest, humble, highly competent, fast-learner, self-starter and motivated by the mission
  • Minimum of 2+ years of software development experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Shows initiative and not shy from taking on responsibility and projects
  • Ability to adapt and grow (startup life isn’t a straight line)
  • Able to overlap with European business hours at least once per day

Bonus points for a successful candidate:

  • Some experience with VueJS
  • Some experience with Django
  • Some experience with MySQL
  • Experience with WebRTC / Websockets
  • Experience with Redis
  • Experience with AWS tech stack
  • API gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, ELB, EC2, RDS
  • Experience with Elasticsearch
  • Design / UX skills
  • Association or experience with tutoring or learning spoken languages
  • Startup experience
  • Evidence of creating your own products and solutions

Non-negotiables

  • Are you a team player and a good person? We have a strict no d///head policy and are not looking for “programming purists”.
  • Do you have a strong interest in education and edtech?
  • Are you fluent in spoken and written English? Note, you don’t have to be a perfect native speaker.
  • Do you already share our values: honesty, trust, grit, motivation, and energy?
  • Can you demonstrate strong skills in customer support and care, understanding how to work with people and getting them the help they need?
  • Can you provide evidence of at least 6-12 months of experience working at least 20 hours a week remotely?

  • Freedom to live wherever you like as long as you have reliable internet and a permanent residence.
  • Annual all-expenses-paid team trip to an exciting location in Europe (when it's properly safe to travel again).
  • A clear career path to lead part of our development and product team as we grow.
  • We offer a supportive, safe and fun work environment. Whatever gender, race, sexuality, nationality, religion, education, languages or quirks you have (or don’t), we don’t mind. Just bring strong values of honesty, trust, grit, motivation, and energy.
  • We’ll provide a monthly contribution towards your home-office or favourite local co-working space.
  • Loads of opportunity for professional development.
  • Oh… and you’ll feel much more motivated knowing you’re changing the world for the better; improving both the access to and quality of education across the world.

  • Cloud systems / architecture experience
  • Worked on a remote team using agile development practices, and know how to break down complex pieces of work into deliverables
  • Worked on features in a vertical slice, from back-end to front-end.

You:

  • Are mission-driven: you care deeply about building great products that affect people’s lives.
  • Are excited about working with a 35-person startup with all the ups, downs and ownership that entails.

Senior Frontend Engineer

We, at Octopods (https://octopods.io), are a small, sharp-focused and deliberate team. We built Octopods to connect businesses using live chat software (like Intercom) to the most popular messaging channels out there (like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, etc). • You worked & architected data flow patterns with a front-end app.

  • You worked with WebSockets, and/or realtime web technologies.

Summary

Ready to lead and grow a team of developers while executing the company vision? We need a Principal Developer who can grow our team from 3 to 15 developers by the end of next year, while having a direct impact on the growth and future of the organization. You’ll be able to work remotely from anywhere in North America and we’re looking for someone to get started right away with growing the team!

About Us:

At Funnelytics, we provide the ultimate tool for marketers. We’re working to build the gold standard in marketing analytics products. We believe that analytics should be an interactive experience, rather than a simple visualization of charts and graphs. Analytics products with the same dry metrics are all too common. Our mission is to provide a marketing analytics platform that intuitively opens up new insights that you would only otherwise get from a team of data scientists.

We’re based out of Toronto, Canada, but you’re free to live anywhere in North America. There are 15 of us and we’re a pretty fun crew. We’re proud and excited about the work we’re doing. We can’t wait to meet you, share our passion, and bring you aboard!

The Job Overview:

We are looking for someone ASAP! As the Principal Developer at Funnelytics, you will play an instrumental role in reshaping the way in which businesses and marketers think about web analytics. We’ve thrown away traditional charts and graphs to start from scratch to build an immersive analytics platform.

You’ll take charge of growing out our engineering group from a modest team of three developers to a team of eight, and ensuring that those teams are able to do their best work under your leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll be leading the vision of the development and growing the team.

You will be personally responsible for leading a team of 3 incredible developers. We are expecting rapid growth over the next 6 to 12 months and need you to build out your driven and qualified development team to 8 members by early 2021.

We need a ‘Hands-on Developer’ who has no problem jumping in and learning the system.

Day to Day:

Setting up processes

  • Driving Agile development methodology
  • Working within JIRA
  • Building integrations with multiple marketing platforms
  • Work closely with the Product Team for improvements
  • Development with Node and Redshift
  • Interviewing and hiring decisions on which highly-qualified engineers to bring on board

**Responsibilities and Projects:
**

  • Expand an engineering team focused on building the future of analytics.
  • Coach a team of engineers to remove roadblocks and implement features to the best of their abilities.
  • Implement processes to keep the engineering team performing at their peak.
  • Take the lead in new initiatives to increase security, monitoring, and testing.
  • Create and enforce timelines for development projects.
  • Construct an execution plan to reach goals set out in our technical vision.
  • Keep stakeholders informed on the progress of projects and the status of engineering.
  • Create strategies to reduce technical debt while continuing to deliver value to customers.
  • Create KPIs to maintain accountability.
**Remember this role is 100% Remote in North America!
    **

An Ideal Candidate Looks Like:

What you'll do on a day-to-day basis

  • Weigh in on making smart architectural decisions. We want our products to be scalable, secure, and distributable, which is why we strive to make smart decisions when building things.

  • Build new features and products. We have tons of ideas that need to be prototyped, tested, and eventually released.

  • Support and improve existing websites and products. We're currently in charge of multiple websites, products, and development stacks, and they all require maintenance.

  • Communicate, communicate, communicate. Everything we do has an impact on the business. You will be working directly with product managers, campaign managers, business analysts, UX designers.

  • Collaborate with/mentor junior engineers and delegate tasks. We want everyone on the team to grow professionally and contribute to the success of Full Beaker. Pass on your knowledge and encourage the team to learn and do more.

The best things about this job:

  • You'll work in a safe and open environment with talented people who have a broad range of experience.

  • You'll enjoy creative freedom when building new things and improving existing products.

  • You'll be supported, but never micromanaged.

  • You'll be encouraged to learn: we provide a $1500 budget per year that covers books, courses, and conferences.

  • We provide full-time employees with full benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage with available coverage for close family members.

  • We also provide a matching 401(k) program, performance bonuses, 3 weeks of paid vacation, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, and a sick PTO policy that boils down to "don't come in until you feel better".

Things you should know

  • You’ll be reporting directly to the VP, Front-End Engineering.

  • COVID and temporary/permanent remote working. Due to COVID, Full Beaker’s Bellevue office has been closed since March 5, 2020, and everyone has been working remotely. Like most companies, we can’t say for sure when our office will reopen. However, when it does, we will be respectful of everyone’s individual situation and preferences. Subject to whatever social distancing/public health requirements are in place, people that want to work in the Bellevue office on a regular and frequent basis will be able to do so. However, if people want to work remote permanently and come into the office less frequently, that will be an option too. Like every company, we’ll need to establish some ground rules for how this will work and we haven’t worked out those details yet. If this is something of interest, please do ask about it during your interview. In summary, whilst our preference is for people to be in our Bellevue office when they can, permanent WFH is an option too.

Here’s what you can expect from our interview process:

You'll spend some time talking with our Head of Product, Product Managers, Software Engineers, our CEO, and our founder. During those conversations, we'll be looking to assess whether you're a good cultural fit and that our values are aligned. We encourage you to come prepared with as many questions as possible to determine whether we're a good fit for you!

We will assess your ability to act independently and lead to the development of new products. This includes cross-team communication and collaboration, planning and organization, and the ability to move seamlessly from strategy down to the details.

Our company values

We want to make sure our company values are emulated by everyone at Full Beaker. You can read more about them  at https://fullbeaker.com/values

Senior Node.js Engineer

Hi, I’m Dani, an entrepreneur, and a tech author & speaker.

Along with my business partner James, we’ve been on a mission to change the way people buy and sell online for over 8 years. We started Saily, the first app to buy & sell used stuff in 2012. We grew it to 500,000+ users before joining Mercari, the giant mobile marketplace. There we led Product & Growth and IPO’ed in 2018. Six months ago, we built Flyp, an app that connects small businesses to professional sellers who sell their clothing inventory for them. Pros handle pricing, listing, negotiating with buyers, packing and shipping each item, then splitting profits.

We just closed our investment round, and are growing our team. We’re looking to hire our first full-time backend engineer to be in charge of our API (Node.js). The engineer will be developing API for our existing mobile app and CMS, in addition to integrating services. We value attitude over skills. We’re looking for someone to treat this startup as their own, have opinions, be involved in decision making, have a hacker mindset, and be result-driven. Although we’re a remote-first startup, we make sure to have overlapping hours across the team to boost productivity.

Experienced Front End Web Developer

NOTE: To be considered for a remote position, you need to be based in the U.S. at this time.

We need a developer with a solid understanding of modern front end technologies and most importantly, the ability to work as part of a team.

Your primary responsibility will be helping maintain our ecosystem of websites. This involves building pages from scratch based on Illustrator or Sketch designs and making modifications to our WordPress and JAMstack (Jekyll-based) sites.

Your HTML5 & CSS3 skills will shine as you show off optimization and code quality when resolving bugs and issues when they come up. You’ll also work at designing and developing better user experiences and measuring the effect on those through A/B tests.

We practice good coding standards, we build for the future, and we don’t believe in cowboy coding or working in a bubble. We’re looking for thinkers … with talent.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day

  • Writing code with a focus on performance, speedy page load times,
    improving conversion rates
  • Building sites and implementing redesigns, designed in Illustrator/Sketch, on our WordPress or static-based sites
  • Coding features for our sites (both through WP Themes and not) using HTML5/CSS/PHP/JS
  • Designing and developing better user experiences and measuring the effect on those through A/B tests
  • Future-proofing our sites with maintenance fixes, updating features, and rolling out responsive, mobile-friendly platforms
