MORE ABOUT US

We are currently a team of 10 people -- you will be #11 🙂.

We are profitable and self-funded (no VCs or investors). We did this because we want to do what’s best for our team and customers.

We have sane working hours (~8 hours/day), don’t work weekends, and take ample time off.

ABOUT YOU

You enjoy writing beautiful code. You care not just about whether the code works, but you think deeply about how well it performs, and how it will be understood by future developers.

You like shipping things. Whether it is a bug fix or a feature, you realize that every line of code is an opportunity to make a user’s experience better.

You like getting feedback. Whether it is talking to real users or adding custom metrics, you believe that getting real user data is a smart way to make decisions.

You are organized and autonomous. You enjoy taking a goal, breaking it up into smaller tasks, and organizing them in the best sequence to get the job done.

You are an excellent communicator. You regularly commit small chunks of code and try to make the best use of the tools available.

PROJECTS YOU WILL WORK ON

You will initially be working on our core product. The core product is an application built using ES6, React, and Redux. You will be shipping code directly to all of our users and getting lots of feedback while you’re at it.

Every now and then, you may also jump into projects such as:

Adding more features to our user-facing dashboard
Converting our ES6 codebase into TypeScript
Improving internal tooling (CI/CD, error monitoring, code quality)

The exact list and sequence of products we work on really changes based on customers’ feedback. However, as the year progresses, we would like you to take ownership of parts of our JavaScript codebases.

MUST HAVES

Fullstack Engineer

Before you start reading, keep in mind that the aim of this job ad is to give you a feel for what it’s like to work at Catapult. There’s lots of research that suggests people often don’t apply because of so-called “requirements” in a job description. If you’re an experienced React engineer with some commercial experience in either Ruby on Rails or Elixir + Phoenix, we’d like to hear from you!

What you’re getting yourself in for

Our mission is to build the world’s best part time job. We spend our time thinking about how to give a global workforce complete control of their own work life while automating the hundreds of thousands of man hours which would normally be required to manage people on this scale.

We do this using React & Typescript on the frontend backed up by GraphQL servers, some written in Ruby and Rails and some in Elixir and Phoenix.

Businesses ranging from the largest high-street retailers to five star hotels and independent coffee boutiques rely on Catapult as their casual workforce. If you’ve spent time in a large UK city, you’ve probably been served by a Catapult waiter or sales assistant without even realising it!

We’re well funded by some amazing investors, our product is live in over 100 locations across the UK and we’ve recently launched in Berlin making us the first and only pan-european player in this space.

Our company values https://writing.joincatapult.com/our-values/ are really important to us and influence every facet of how we work together.

About the role

We’ve been growing rapidly over the last three years and as we continue our international roll out, we’re looking for ambitious engineers to help us build the future of work. Our engineering principles https://writing.joincatapult.com/engineering-principles/ give a good feel for how we work together and what we value.

We’re a distributed, remote first engineering organisation with team members in Prague, Warsaw, London, Bristol and Bangkok. We work in autonomous pods, each of which has ownership of one area of our business. We’re open to remote applicants from anywhere within the EU.

Benefits

As well as being a part of a well funded startup at one of the most exciting phases of it’s growth, you’ll get:

  • Competitive salary + stock options + 25 days paid holiday per year
  • A strong approach to professional development and mentorship, everyone has a dedicated L&D budget for books, training and the like
  • Several product retreats per year where the whole team goes on a team retreat, looks back on how we can improve and then spends a week or so hacking on new ideas and exploring new technologies
  • Regular social events & the opportunity to travel to our other offices
  • Company Macbook Pro which you’re free to take home
  • A flexible work environment focussed on output not hours

Senior Frontend Engineer (React Native)

If you have a soft spot for bootstrapped, profitable, remote companies with a meaningful product, and you want to use your frontend development skills for good, you’ll like this.

About us:

Drops’ goal is to turn language learning into a delightful game while ensuring effective learning. Drops is one of the top10 most innovative education companies according to FastCompany. Our app is in the Appstore for 3+ years, teaches 35 languages, was featured by both the App Store and Play Store multiple times - App of the Year in 2018 on the Play Store - and the company is still run by the founders. We are a small, super-capable remote team mainly spread across Europe (we have a small marketing crew in California) . We’re working synchronously, so time zones matter for us. We communicate via Slack, Github and Monday. We want to be the no.1 app for vocabulary learning and we are getting there quickly with our current user base of 18 million, a monthly active of >1,500,000 and an average store rating of 4.7.

You can find us here: https://languagedrops.com

About you:

You’ll be a core part of the development team, working on both our main (Drops) and auxiliary products (Droplets, Visual Dictionary, Internal CMS tools). This means a lot of ownership, which we cultivate by having a flat structure.

You’re a no-nonsense person, who is comfortable taking on larger projects, who has been working in working at a product company and has extensive front-end development experience.

You have been working with React or React Native for years, have deep knowledge of everything that’s happening in the browser or in a mobile client and looking for challenges in growing a product from an already large userbase to tens of millions of MAU, with all the complexity that’s involved in that.

You strongly prefer static typing over dynamic languages, and use every opportunity to transform code that doesn’t use types into code that does. You generally prefer to use a minimal set of simple tools to a diverse range of complex ones.

You like to have a variety of projects - at this job, you’ll be developing a complex web app, a static site generator (react-static), building internal automation infrastructure/tools and contributing to our internal content management system.

We’re building a small, but super capable team. You’re naturally more interested in the fate of the product & driven to grow professionally than in managing people.

We value clear and honest communication and transparency, it’s the linchpin of our culture and current success and freedom. You will be involved in both high and low level decision making and will be available during European working hours (9AM - 6PM GMT).

We are looking for a missionary rather than a mercenary.

What’d be different here:

  • We’re a small team. We’re optimising for impact, not for headcount. You’ll be carefully considering any tradeoff that would lead to increased complexity.
  • We’re using a single programming language - TypeScript. We have strict linter rules. Every pull request needs to be approved before it lands in master. We use the rebase workflow.
  • We’re using React + Redux to develop UI, on both mobile and the web. We use selectors extensively. Our backend is on AWS, deployed to Lambda.
  • We’re doing things in a functional way, concentrating state, minimising side effects and making dependencies explicit. We’re sharing 98%+ of the code between Android, iOS and Web.
  • We’re writing software with a web developer’s mindset.
  • We automate where it has positive ROI.
  • Our biggest challenge is (and will remain): managing the complexity of sharing a lot of code between different apps.
  • We’re not building a hierarchy. We’re encouraging everyone to be autonomous.

Founded in 2007, Quimbee is one of the most widely used and respected study aids for law students. With a massive and growing library of case briefs, video lessons, definitions, and practice questions, Quimbee helps its members achieve academic success in law school. Quimbee can be accessed on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

This position is 100% remote. All you need is an internet connection and a quiet place to work.

Quimbee's tech team works on an agile process and has a great mix of seasoned web backend, frontend, and mobile developers. Quimbee's web and API platform is based on a monolithic Ruby on Rails application, and we make the effort to keep it updated to recent dependencies' versions. We're big believers on automated tests, and while we don't necessarily do test-first, CodeClimate rates both our maintenance and code coverage metrics with an A.
This position is to work primarily on our web platform with an emphasis on our frontend code (views, HTML, CSS, JS) but also helping on backend work (controllers, models, serializers, query optimization, etc) whenever that's needed, so we're looking for someone with a passion for frontend but who's no stranger to backend code.

Senior Frontend Engineer (Remote)

Hi! 👋 We’re searching for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our engineering team at vidIQ.

We’re a diverse team from around the world on a mission to empower video creators to share their stories with everyone. Help us shape new products and deliver simple, valuable features to our awesome customers.

We’re a remote company and our team works from wherever they want. That means you must be self-motivated to succeed. If that sounds great to you and you’re interested in empowering video creators, keep reading!

About you

You’ll be a good fit for this role if the following are true:

  •  You love building things. Frontend development is full of helpful tools, libraries, and patterns, and you enjoy using these to build products people will love. You like new challenges and strive to ship new features to customers on a regular basis.
  •  You love to learn. You enjoy keeping up with the latest trends in frontend space. If a project uses a framework that’s new to you, you dive into the docs and tutorials to figure it out.
  •  You act like an owner. When bugs appear, you document and fix them. When projects are too complex, you work with others to refine the scope until it’s something you believe can be built in a reasonable amount of time and maintained in the long run.
  •  You care about code quality. You believe simple is better and strive to write code that is easy to read and maintain. You consider edge cases and write tests to handle them. When you come across legacy code that is difficult to understand, you add comments or refactor it to make it easier for the next person.
  •  You understand balance. Great products must balance performance, customer value, code quality, dependencies, and so on. You know how to consider all of these concerns while keeping your focus on shipping things.
  •  You over-communicate by default. If a project is off-track, you bring it up proactively and suggest ways to simplify and get things going. You proactively share status updates without being asked and strive to keep things as honest and transparent as possible.

Note that we’re looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years of professional programming experience for this role.

Possible projects

As part of our growing Frontend Team, you’ll work with team members at all levels to improve our existing products and develop new ones.

The tools we use most heavily right now are React and Redux, though we still have Backbone and Flux in some of our codebases as well. We use Asana for project management, GitHub for code reviews, and Slack for daily communication. We also have a Rails API and consider it a major bonus if you have experience working on Rails applications.

Some projects you may work on include:

  • Research and implement architectural changes such as migrating our browser extension to Redux.
  • Help measure the effectiveness of certain features by building a reusable analytics module to use across our products.
  • Improve our brand and usability by reskinning components according to our new design system.
  • Make our products more reliable by writing integration tests to cover common user workflows.
  • Simplify our API interactions by building a GraphQL layer.
  • Level up the team by reviewing code and suggesting improvements.

Over time, you’ll become an owner of some areas of our codebase and have the freedom to improve them as you see fit.

About vidIQ

We believe everyone has something to share with the world and we’ve been empowering video creators to tell their stories for more than 6 years. We want to be the best platform for video creators. Everything we do is to build trust with our customers and help them improve at their craft.

vidIQ is a small, remote team in many different time zones. We currently have team members stretching from California all the way to Kiev!

A few of the perks of working here include:

  • A generous vacation policy. Take time away when you need it.
  • A flexible work schedule. You decide which hours to work and we expect an average commitment of 40 hours per week.
  • Support for professional development. If there’s a relevant course or conference you’re interested in, we’ll pay for it.
  • Annual retreats! You can expect to travel once per year for a company gathering. (We visited Portugal together last year!)

How to apply

To save time and get to know you better, we ask a few questions as part of the application. Following that, our hiring process involves a phone conversation, a technical interview (no live coding, don’t worry!), and a short paid project.

When you apply, you’ll hear back from us even if we don’t think there’s a good fit. We know you’re putting effort into your application and feel that deserves respect.

Please note that the preferred time zone for this role is between UTC-5 and UTC+2, but we're willing to be flexible for the right person.

vidIQ does not work with recruiting agencies and strives to work with each candidate one-on-one through the hiring process. We will respect your time availability if you are currently employed.

vidIQ provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants, regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, or sexual orientation.

If you think you would thrive in this environment, we would love to hear from you. Please apply!

Join one of our product teams and develop features with real value to a one-of-a-kind product management system used by 2000+ global companies. Join a team that's redefining what product management systems can be.

  • Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript

  • Platforms: Node.js

  • Databases: Postgres, Elastic, Redis

  • UI: React, react-router

  • State management: our custom Flux implementation

  • Styling: CSS Modules, LESS, css-in-js

  • Bundling: Webpack

  • Testing: Jest, Cypress.io

  • Quality: Rollbar, ESlint, Prettier, Danger.js

  • Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Gitlab CI

We work in small cross-functional teams that usually consist of 3 developers, a designer, and a product manager. You’ll be part of the whole feature development lifecycle. You’ll see all the feedback we collected from our customers and you will be encouraged to come up with your ideas or objections.

About you

As a core member of our team, you care about solving real problems for real users.  Coding, to you, is more art than mechanics and analytical thinking comes second nature.

  • You are experienced at building web apps and designing architecture that scales

  • 2+ years of experience building backend systems

  • Understanding of relevant design patterns (Domain Driven Design, GRASP, SOLID, micro-services)

  • You can design frontend architecture and are obsessed about performance.

  • You have experienced with mentoring and helping your teammates, doing code reviews and pair-programming

  • You have a drive to have editor and tooling perfectly set-up.

  • You fix things when you see they’re broken, instead of waiting for someone else to do it.

  • You could win a debate on tabs vs. spaces conducted entirely in English.

  • You live in Europe – as it's important for us to have the team in pretty much the same timezone

Remote

At productboard, we recently started building fully remote teams. It is, therefore, possible to join us as Fullstack engineer while being (almost) 100% remote. The expectation is that you will travel to Prague roughly every six weeks to collaborate with your remote team members in person, while also meeting other team members and learning more about the productboard culture. If you're interested in taking on this position remotely, make sure you tick off (most of) these requirements:

  • +1 years of experience working remotely

  • You're able to use your experience with remote work to help us lay the groundwork for remote work at productboard.

  • You're self-organized and disciplined

  • You have amazing communication skills

  • You know how to make sure everyone on the team feels included

About productboard

  • You’ll enjoy an exciting team atmosphere building a new and complex product

  • We iterate quickly and decisions are fast. You’ll have a voice in what we do and see the impact of your work

  • We have modern offices in Prague and San Francisco. Expect occasional travel to the US

Remote Senior Ember.js Engineer

simplabs is Europe's leading Ember.js Consultancy. We've been an active member of the community for many year, several of our engineers are on the core team and we co-organize EmberFest. We hire people that are passionate about collaboration, web technology and open source.

We are looking for a senior Ember.js Engineer to join our remote team.

You'll work in a small, international team with responsibility early on and can have a large impact on client as well as open source projects.

We expect experience with modern JavaScript development and the client-side MVC framework Ember. Ideally you also have experience with CSS as well, this is not a must though. We appreciate writing maintainable, tested code and are looking forward to your application if you share this appreciation with us.

About simplabs

simplabs is a community of engineers who have effective relationships with many international clients. We develop custom solutions using modern technologies for our clients, help clients in developing their products and also mentoring and workshops. Our clients range from small local and international startups to enterprises.

We focus on Web Engineering with Ember.js, Elixir/Phoenix and Ruby on Rails and are consistently involved in these open-source communities. Events we're organizing include Rails Girls Munich, the Elixir User Group Munich among others. We also want to ensure that our workshops and other events organized by us are accessible to a wide part of the tech community by ensuring these events are free or by providing diversity sponsorships for people who are yet underrepresented in tech.

We support team members to attend and participate in conferences and other IT events and we mentor and encourage interested engineers to present at events themselves. We believe that development of technical and interpersonal skills is important to our team members, and we're therefore committed in providing growth opportunities which include paid time to work on open source projects, attend trainings and participate in mentorships and more.

We strongly believe that diversity of experience contributes to a wider outlook of our team that not only improves our working atmosphere but also increases our productivity as a company. We are committed to increase the diversity of our team wherever we can and we encourage everyone to consider becoming a part of it.

How we work

We're a team of open-minded developers who value collaboration, empathetic working relationships and well-crafted code. Beyond a supportive team culture and a relaxed work atmosphere, we enable you to take part in modern projects for clients ranging from small startups to big enterprises, national as well as international. We work closely with our clients and usually join a shared Slack channel with their teams for easy communication. You'll have responsibility early on and have the opportunity to both guide the development of these client projects as well as grow your own technical and interpersonal skill set.

We also offer the opportunity to travel internationally - either to visit clients on-site for a limited time or to attend tech conferences (if you enjoy speaking or you're interested to do so that's awesome! We'll support you in finding mentoring support either through one of our experienced team members or any other external support that you find useful).

We start the day with our standup meeting in which everyone gives an update on what they worked on the previous day and what they plan to do on the current day. Apart from that we're pretty lean and don't have a lot of process. We practice a feature branch based workflow with continuous testing and peer reviews.
Apart from working on client projects we also maintain a bunch of open source libraries and tools on which you're invited to work on as well.

What we offer

  • self-guided work on interesting projects for international clients
  • competitive salary
  • 30 days of paid vacation
  • a flextime schedule to accommodate the needs of caretakers
  • time to work on open source projects
  • personal support to deepen your knowledge in topics that you feel are close to you
  • chance and support to attend and speak at international conferences
  • a flat organization with little process standing in your way
  • regular company events to meet your team members
  • an international, communicative and supportive team
  • flexible work environment (either on-site in Munich or remote)
  • we are a full remote company and everyone gets to choose between a paid office space that suits you or working from home
  • the latest MacBook Pro (or the previous one if you don't want the TouchBar) plus an external 4K display

Headway is a changelog as a service solution that stole hearts of many companies by making it super simple to share updates with their users. Headway is also one of those great stories about a fully bootstrapped company that came into being when solving our own problem.

With a set of great companies onboard (Superhuman, CodeShip, Statuspage, Travis CI, to mention a few) we have an ambition to create a great, long lasting company. All of this while not going crazy at work.

You will work closely with the technical founder (previous CTO of jsfiddle.net) to take more ownership over the application over time. If this is what you are looking for, look no further 🙂

We have an appetite for some quality engineering, use the latest version of Ruby on Rails. We experiment with cool, mature technologies like React, GraphQL or Docker, and we like to build our own tools too! Everything to make our work even more enjoyable 😊

Full Stack Developer - React / Node

About Moveli

Moveli is reinventing real estate agency in the UK. We’re a marketing and technology platform that allows great real estate agents to run their own business under our brand, while providing a way better service than traditional high street real estate agencies.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a full-time, remote working full-stack developer to lead the development of our tech platform in cooperation with our founding team.

The team

The team is made up of our two London-based founders who do the front-end design, UX, QA and project management stuff, and our lead developer.

You will be replacing our current lead developer as he’s recently moved to Australia, and we’ve all agreed that the time zone difference is a bit too much. He'll still be available for hand over and ongoing help and support should it be needed.

How we work

You will have the freedom to choose what technologies we use going forward, so there’s plenty of room for you to make the project your own.

Currently we use Trello to manage tasks, Zeplin to communicate our designs and Bitbucket to store code. We have fully operational staging and production environments set up on Digital Ocean.

We run a MERN stack: React front-end, Node/Express back-end and MongoDB. There’s a small amount of legacy php in there too, which needs to be switched over to Node.

New releases are regularly pushed live, at least fortnightly, and we maintain a backlog of development tasks and work as a team to plan and prioritise these as part of our agile development process.

To begin with you’ll be the only developer, which enables us to work really closely and get stuff done with remarkable speed, although we plan to add to the engineering team next year as and when required.

Requirements

We need a competent full stack developer who has experience with React, Node, Express, MongoDB and HTML/CSS.

You’ll also need to be based within +/- 3 hours of UK local time, ideally in the UK or Europe.

Ideally we’re looking for a full-time contractor to do 8 hours a day 5 days a week but can be flexible on this if you need time to finish another project or take days / weeks off.

Pay: £150 per day, equivalent to $50,000 p.a.

React Front End Dev

Are you a kick-ass FED tired of rushing through client work, instead yearning to dive deeper into a smaller number of projects? Do animations, interactions, and user experiences delight you? Are you disciplined enough to work in sprints, but also mature enough to work independently?

Undefined LLC is hiring a full-time FED to work on customer-facing and internal websites and web applications. Say goodbye to the agency or freelance rat race - you’ll be working exclusively on a small number of company-led projects and initiatives.

Our Projects

So what types of projects will you be working on?

  • A custom e-commerce site built in React and Next, powered on the back-end by Firebase and WordPress

  • A custom admin dashboard for a native app with more than 250,000 user accounts and 5,000 daily users, built in React and Next, and powered by Firebase

  • A shopify e-commerce site with a custom theme built on Shopify’s themekit and React

  • An app microsite built in React and Next, powered by Firebase

  • Various landing pages and microsites generally built in React and Next, powered by Firebase and/or WordPress as a CMS

  • Internal reporting and communication tools that may need some FED love

The Daily Grind

What’s a typical day for a FED? We work in sprints; so, you’ll be in daily communication with your dev team members and leadership. But we also work like animals; so, you’ll be free to focus on getting your work done. Your week will begin with a Sprint Planning Meeting, you’ll have daily stand-ups during the week, and it will end on Friday with a Sprint Review.

Though most of your time during the week will be working on tasks and bugs, you’ll have the opportunity to step up regularly (if that’s your thing) and be involved in higher-level design and direction decisions. We say “if that’s your thing” because some people love that, others don’t. And we want you focused mostly on what you love.

But What Am I Really Doing?

Sometimes, you’ll have an entire Sketch design and you’ll be building out the FED. Other times, you’ll have the basic design requirements (fonts, colors, etc) and some functionality requirements (credit card form, shipping address), and you’ll design and build the page or component in browser.

You’ll also handle FED for A/B tests like changing button colors or page layouts. Or we’ll need some animation on a page, like firing off confetti when a form is submitted. That’s your area too.

Hey - we just added some new functionality to how subscriptions are set up or we’re building out the functionality to export customer lists from our admin portal. You’ll FED those components, and also bug fix them should something break or not work as expected.

Our Tech Stack

You must know React. We use React heavily in our front end development. You must also be great - not good, great - with CSS, SCSS, or some similar styling. We currently use SCSS modules in React, so you should be comfortable with SCSS even if you want to convince us that something better exists.

You must also have a great - not good, great - eye for CSS animations, timings, transitions…everything animated in the browser. If we (or you) get a crazy idea to animate a user interaction or drop in a little delighter, you’ll be the one to pull it off.

Experience with Firebase, WordPress, and/or Shopify is a plus. And if you use After Effects or Lottie to blow peoples’ minds, we want to know (and see it).

What You Need To Qualify

This is a full-time position or contract-to-hire position depending on your situation and needs. To qualify:

  • Must be a US citizen or resident alien

  • Proven work experience as a FED with React

  • Proficiency working in git and terminal

  • A portfolio and/or repo of actual work experience

How To Apply

Send us your details - we need to see your work and resume or similar doc. We’ll reach out to qualified candidates via email to ask some questions or for a phone conversation.

Senior Front End Engineer JavaScript

At Olo we develop an online food ordering platform used by many of the country’s largest restaurant chains, reaching millions of consumers. Chances are if you’ve ordered directly from a restaurant brand’s app or website, we’ve made that happen. Mobile ordering and payments is an exciting and active industry full of interesting players and yet still a relatively untapped market ripe for disruption. We’re quite up-front about the technical challenges our business faces. Running a platform with multiple white-labeled front-ends, that maintains real-time connections into thousands of restaurants’ POS systems, and coordinates complex transactions between these and other third parties (such as payment gateways and gift card providers) is not for the faint of heart!

We take pride in a neat codebase with automated tests and continuous integration, and encourage constant refactoring. We encourage new ideas and experimentation. No part of the code base is off limits.

Our current technologies include modern versions of Ember, React, TypeScript, ASP.NET MVC, C#, and F#. We also rely on tools such as AWS, GitHub, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Sumo Logic, Datadog, and New Relic. We don’t expect you to have experience with everything on this list, and we’ll help you learn what you don’t know!

As a front-end engineer at Olo, you will play a significant and visible role in helping us build one of the most advanced food ordering platforms in the hospitality industry. You will help us shape the digital guest experience for restaurant brands served by Olo. You will contribute to technology selection, architecture and user experience for our front-end applications.

Any engineer may work at Olo’s headquarters in New York City’s Financial District or remotely from anywhere in the U.S. In fact, more than half of our engineering team is remote!

Requirements

  • Experience building ADA compliant user interfaces that put users first and look and feel awesome to use

  • Deep knowledge of ES6/ES2015+ and one or more modern Javascript frameworks, with a preference for Ember

  • In-depth experience with the back-end of the stack (Bonus: .NET)

  • Experience creating and maintaining automated tests

  • Leadership experience that spans one or more aspects of technology selection, architecture and design oversight, and mentoring others

  • Superb problem solving skills with an emphasis on pragmatism, quality, performance, and scalability

  • Passion for learning new skills and technologies

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

  • BS degree in a technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience

  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English

  • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Orders from Olo are injected seamlessly into existing restaurant systems to help brands capture demand from on-demand channels such as branded websites and apps, third-party marketplaces, social media channels, and personal assistant devices like the Amazon Echo. Olo is a pioneer in the industry, beginning with text message ordering on mobile feature phones in 2005. Today, over 100 million consumers use Olo to order ahead or get meals delivered from the restaurants they love. Customers include Applebee’s (DIN), Chili’s (EAT), Denny’s (DENN), Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Jamba Juice (JMBA), Noodles & Company (NDLS), Red Robin (RRGB), Shake Shack (SHAK), sweetgreen, Wingstop (WING), and more. • You are available 30-40 hours per week.

  • You might have full-stack experience with either Rails, Node.js, Apollo Client/GraphQL, native Android (Java, Kotlin) or iOS (Objective C, Swift). But if you don't, that's OK too!

  • You have prior experience as a freelancer or are someone that enjoys having the freedom to choose the types of projects that best align with your interests.

  • You are flexible and can adjust to the working styles of different teams. Some teams may want to pair-program and have daily interaction others may want engineers to work independently and only interact a few hours per week.

Vetting - Developers and Clients

We match technically vetted engineers to pre-vetted clients who place a high value on engineering and focus on running healthy projects. We take care of contracts, billing, payments and all of the other work that goes into freelancing so that engineers can focus on code and clients on building their product. Our vision is for the hiring process to be simple, trustworthy and enjoyable for both companies and engineers.

When we vet clients we make sure they:

  • Prioritize communication

  • Plan appropriately and have realistic timelines

  • Understand the cost of healthy development and have a budget to pay for it

When we vet engineers we make sure:

  • Engineers vet other engineers

  • Our code challenges are to the point and based on production-level code, no whiteboarding

  • Our process is objective, repeatable and quantitively scored

  • Our process is completely transparent

Who you will work with

We only work with companies that value engineers and run healthy engineering teams. We regularly partner with Y Combinator funded product companies that place a high value on engineering. Some of the companies we have worked with are: Lattice, Major League Soccer, ZeeMee, Software Engineering Daily, and Truebill with new clients coming in weekly.

G2i is an equal opportunity employer. We’re dedicated to building a team where diversity in both ideas and identities is not only welcomed, but encouraged. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.

If you'd like to learn more or set up a no-commitment exploratory call, feel free to apply here or reach out to dylan@g2i.co. Thanks!

eCommerce Developer

Your Day-to-day

This is a hands-on, fully-remote programming position. You'll be working on eCommerce platforms and CMSes like Magento, Shopify and WordPress. The core technologies you'll be working with are PHP, HTML, CSS, and JS.

Our projects are generally focused around making large, material changes to our clients' sites or designing and developing new sites from the ground up. You work closely with client stakeholders, our project managers, and other developers to design, develop and deploy features and updates that best serve our clients and their customers.

We have quite a bit of work booked for the next few months, so an ideal applicant will be ready to hit the ground running. Despite the amount of work we have, I strive to minimize context switching—if you're on a project, you shouldn't expect to be bombarded with unrelated tweaks on other projects here and there.

We're a small but quickly growing agency. As one of the early hires, there is opportunity for this to be a high impact position. An appropriately ambitious individual will have huge opportunity to lay the groundwork of the company's future.

About BranchLabs

BranchLabs is a small but rapidly growing fully remote eCommerce consultancy. We provide eCommerce strategy, design, and implementation services for our clients. Our clients are generally vertically integrated, branded B2C businesses. We help them sell more online, show their brand in the best light, and optimize their backend eCommerce processes.

Our reputation is built on delivering results. We take pride in the work we produce. The products we deliver are high quality inside and out, and they help our clients capitalize on real opportunities. We work closely with stakeholders on our clients' marketing teams, combining their understanding of their customers with our understanding of all things eCommerce. Together, we craft solutions that work for our clients and their customers.

Some Notes on Culture

Here are some of our values. They're always being refined based on what works and what doesn't.

  • We value clear, concise communication.
  • You can only produce high quality work if you have a clear understanding of the problem.
  • Context—understanding our clients and their customers—empowers individual contributors to find better solutions.
  • Free up time for interesting problems by automating repeatable tasks and learning your tools inside and out.
  • No process for process' sake. No meetings for meetings' sake. But there is a place for both.
  • Build or use tools to provide predictability and eliminate boring work.
  • Individual productivity is important to us, and it is hugely dependent on a minimally distracting, supportive environment.

With the client, we also have a lot of data visuals on the roadmap and experience working with D3 or other data visualization libraries is required.

  • Comfortable working with D3/react or other data viz tools to make dynamic interfaces.

  • Write well structured GraphQL queries and pattern good binding with React.

  • Optimize code for efficiency and scale.

  • Testing client-side code and data loading queries.

Skills And Qualifications

  • 3+ years Node.js experience

  • 2-3+ years working with React, React Native, Redux/Flux architecture.

  • Familiar with GraphQL

  • Elasticsearch Query DSL experience

  • REST API & experience consuming APIs

  • Basic understanding of Object-Oriented and Structured development methodologies

  • Strong understanding of good CSS patterns with comfort using pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS

  • Not intimidated by amending Webpack or structuring NPM builds.

  • We use Git. You should know how to as well.
